Fernando de Castilla – Jerez de la Frontera
400 bottles

La Bota de Brandy de Jerez 134 “Bota Punta” secretly belongs to the absolute aristocracy of the world’s finest spirits. Very elegant and very old, it comes from the tiny Equipo Navazos solera that rests in the cellars of Fernando de Castilla in Jerez de la Frontera, to which we have returned a dozen years later. Now we have bottled part of the third cask, a sister to those that produced editions No. 29 and No. 43. Twenty-five years of aging during which a very fine distillate has slowly matured in three casks previously used to age fino sherry in El Puerto de Santa María. Nothing more: top-quality holanda, top-quality casks delicately seasoned with wine, time, and patience.
The origin of this brandy lies in pot stills already over ten years old that, fifteen years ago, were resting in sherry casks that had been used several times. These casks had not imparted any vinous character or intense aromas to the brandy beyond the natural process of integration and aging in wood. To complete its aging process, in 2010 Equipo Navazos acquired three exquisite casks of fino sherry from El Puerto de Santa María, of impeccable origin. We created a small altar, “EQUIPO NAVAZOS,” in a corner of the Rey Fernando de Castilla cellars. Each cask holds between 400 and 500 liters of brandy, aged at its natural alcohol content. Part of the contents of two of the casks were drawn to bottle editions numbered 29 and 43, respectively. Now, twelve and fourteen years after those initial sacas, we have taken half the volume from the third cask to bottle this edition No. 134. This is an exceptional and virtually unrepeatable brandy that we find truly captivating. Of course, it has lost much of the fruitiness it possessed initially, which is still noticeable in bottles of La Bota de Brandy 29, in particular, and instead displays the refined elegance of a very high-quality spirit.
Nothing has ever been added to the very fine pot still spirit at any stage of aging, except for the essential hydration, hence its golden color and radically dry character. It will surprise those who enjoy the sweet, dense, vinous, and deeply colored brandies that are usually popular in Spain. However, we believe it will satisfy those who appreciate serious and refined cognacs in which aging does not diminish, but rather enhances, the fruity quality of the spirit. Despite being so different, we reaffirm its deep essence of Brandy de Jerez, made evident by the long years of aging in the Barrio de Santiago, and by the delicate but unmistakable character that comes from aging for fifteen years in casks of excellent fino sherry.
